The HMD Fusion 2 is the eagerly awaited second generation of the company’s modular smartphone series. Unlike the first model, this new device is planned to be aimed directly at consumers and feature significant improvements to both the display and processor.
Expected Features of the HMD Fusion 2
According to leaked information, the new model will feature significant upgrades. The device is expected to feature a 6.58-inch Full HD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate. This represents a significant improvement over the HD+ 90Hz display on the first-generation Fusion. It is also rumored to be powered by the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 chipset.

On the camera front, the 108MP main camera will remain. However, the 2MP secondary sensor from the previous model will be replaced by a more capable 8MP ultra-wide camera. The phone is also expected to feature features such as IP65 water and dust resistance, NFC, Bluetooth 5.3, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The HMD Fusion 2 will retain the series’ core modular design. Known as “Smart Outfits,” these modules attach to the phone via magnetic pins, providing new functionality like an extra battery, an advanced camera, or a game controller. HMD will also continue to support the open-source “Fusion Development Toolkit,” allowing developers to create their own modules with 3D printers.
The first HMD Fusion, announced in July, was a soft launch aimed primarily at developers and tech enthusiasts. HMD North America General Manager Charlie Park confirmed that they will shift strategy with the HMD Fusion 2, targeting a broader consumer base with the device, expected to be unveiled at CES 2026.
