Where Winds Meet, an action-adventure role-playing game (RPG) developed by Chinese developer Everstone Studio and published by NetEase, has achieved tremendous success, reaching 15 million players in just one month since its global release. The game’s combat mechanics and rich world have received high praise from fans.
Where Winds Meet Receives Great Interest
Everstone Studio, making a big splash with its first game, Where Winds Meet, welcomed over two million players just one day after its global release. The game also achieved impressive numbers on the Steam platform; within a week of its release, the number of concurrent players reached 250,000.
This astonishing performance culminated in the announcement that the game had been experienced by a total of 15 million players across all platforms – console, PC, and mobile – within a month. The game had previously been available in early access in the Chinese market, and it took it two months to reach the same level of success.
To celebrate this milestone, Where Winds Meet added new content to the game. With the latest patch, version 1.1, the Roaring Sands map, said to be one-third the size of the current map, has been added.
This major update brings a new boss, Feng Ruzhi, and a brand-new Story Quest revolving around the mighty River Master. Additionally, version 1.1 raises the character level cap, allowing players to level their in-game characters up to level 65. To celebrate, the Velvet Shade sect, offering new abilities for the Spring Umbrella weapon, has also been added to the game.
Where Winds Meet’s early success is seen as part of a rising trend of popular games developed by China-based studios in recent years. The global popularity of HoYoverse’s massive titles like Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail demonstrates China’s influence in the gaming industry. A Fireworks Festival, starting on December 30th, also awaits players.
