Intel’s preparations for its next-generation Xe3 architecture are nearing their final stages. The company, previously in the news with leaks of the high-end B700, has now revealed the first benchmark results for the Arc B390 model, part of the Panther Lake architecture. These leaked figures promise a significant performance leap, especially for portable and mobile gaming systems.
The Intel Arc B390 Could Change Everything
According to leaked benchmark results, the Intel Arc B390 achieved remarkable scores in the 3DMark benchmark software. The Arc B390 reached 7,000 points in the popular Time Spy Graphics test. It also scored over 6,000 points in the more recent Steel Nomad Light benchmark. These results equate to nearly double the performance of its current rival, the Radeon 890M.

For those who missed it, the Xe3 architecture is designed to significantly surpass the previous Lunar Lake-era Xe2 design in both performance and power efficiency. Intel could regain a competitive edge in the integrated graphics competition, where it has long lagged behind, with this architecture.
The exact TDP (Thermal Design Power) value used in the tests is not yet known. However, initial estimates suggest that the test device may have been operating at power limitations exceeding 60W. Despite this, the scalability potential demonstrated by the Xe3 architecture is seen as a development that will propel the company back into the competitive arena of the integrated graphics market.
Another noteworthy detail in the leak is the statement that Intel is working on a variant of the Xe3 specifically designed for handheld consoles. This information could herald an era in which existing portable gaming solutions like the ROG Ally may be reshaped by much more powerful integrated graphics processing units (iGPUs). If the performance curve continues at this rate, the current power balance in mobile gaming devices will shift significantly.
