Apple has entered a comprehensive change process for the iPhone 18 series, which will be introduced in 2026. The new models that the company is preparing to launch next year will come with a wide-ranging innovation program that includes generative artificial intelligence features, the next-generation A20 processor, and Apple’s first foldable phone.
The iPhone 18 series may offer surprising features
The tariffs implemented in the US are expected to change sales timings and delays in artificial intelligence integration are expected to reduce user interest. In the analyses, the production estimates of the iPhone 17 were reduced by 9 percent compared to the previous series, the iPhone 16. In order to reverse this situation, Apple went to a planning process that included technological leaps in the iPhone 18 series.

With the new models, Apple will offer generative artificial intelligence support to the user at the system level for the first time. With this technology, the devices will reach the same level as their competitors Google and Samsung in areas such as text creation, visual analysis and more advanced personal assistant features. The new chip, which the company calls A20, will be at the center of this process.
The A20 processor is based on the 2-nanometer production process developed by TSMC and uses the new generation WMCM (Wafer-Level Multi-Chip Module) packaging technology. Thanks to this technology, the CPU, GPU and memory components in the processor are combined at the wafer level.
Thus, while energy efficiency is increased, up to 15 percent higher output is achieved compared to the A19 Pro on the performance side. The A20 will also offer wider bandwidth thanks to its six-channel memory design.
There are also innovations in the iPhone 18 series in terms of design. Apple will switch to a smaller and pill-shaped front camera protrusion on the screen side. According to the information shared by screen analyst Ross Young, this design change will expand the screen experience and offer a simpler look without affecting the Face ID system.
One of the most striking innovations will be the inclusion of Apple’s first foldable phone in this series. Some details about this device, which is currently in the prototype phase, such as screen resolution and exterior design, have leaked.
The model is expected to be released as part of the iPhone 18 Pro family. If the device’s production program is completed, Apple will join the competition with a foldable iPhone model for the first time.
No official statement has yet been made by Apple regarding these innovations. However, information from production chains indicates that A20 chip-powered artificial intelligence-supported iPhones will play a key role in the company’s 2026 strategy.
