Black Myth: Wukong, which Xbox owners have been eagerly awaiting for a year, will be available for Xbox Series X and S on August 20th. However, performance reviews of the game reveal some shortcomings compared to the PC and PlayStation 5 versions.
Black Myth: Wukong is being trimmed for Xbox
Some compromises have been made, particularly in graphical details such as in-game lighting and textures. According to recent tests, although the game runs at a higher resolution on the Xbox Series X, the advanced lighting system called “lumen lighting” is disabled to achieve 60 FPS. This significantly impacts the game’s overall visual quality.

The graphical downgrade is more noticeable on the Xbox Series S version. While the game still looks good, it lags behind the PC and PlayStation 5 versions.
The main reason for the game’s one-year delay to Xbox and its lower graphics settings is the technical limitations of the Xbox Series S. When Microsoft launched the consoles, it promised that every game released for the Series X would also be available for the Series S.
However, this situation makes it difficult for game studios to fully utilize the potential of next-generation consoles. Developers are forced to optimize their games to run on Xbox Series S to bring them to Xbox. This has become a growing problem for the Xbox platform over time, and Black Myth: Wukong is the latest and most prominent example of this.
