YouTube continues to expand its experimental features for Premium subscribers. The company added 4x playback support to several new features it began testing earlier this month. Users will now be able to watch YouTube videos and podcasts 4 times faster. Moreover, innovations are not limited to this.
Fast playback, high quality sound and many innovations
After the expansion of fast playback to 4x, one of the most remarkable innovations offered by YouTube is the Jump Ahead feature. This function, which is being tested in web browsers, allows users to skip scenes they do not want and move directly to important content. It is a great time saver, especially for those who want to quickly skip long entries and unnecessary sections.

The following experimental features are now available for YouTube Premium members:
- Playback at 4x speed (iOS and Android – until 26 February)
- Shorts smart downloads (iOS – until 19 February)
- Picture-in-picture mode for Shorts (iOS – until 19 February)
- 256 kbps high quality audio (iOS and Android – until 22 February)
- Jump Ahead feature (Web – until 5 February)
YouTube Premium subscribers will be able to make content consumption faster and more personalised with these new additions, while having the advantage of watching ad-free videos. However, some users point out that the automatic download feature offered for Shorts videos risks filling up phone storage space.
If positive feedback is received during the testing process, these features are expected to be permanently available to all users. Do not forget to share your opinions on the subject with us.
