It’s been nearly 3 years since Apple introduced AirTag, and the company has yet to make any changes to AirTag. However, the latest leaks reveal that Apple may be working on the new AirTag 2.
The new AirTag 2 will use the same chip as the iPhone 15
Apple released a tracking device called AirTag to the market last 2021. Users can place this device called Apple’s AirTag in their cars, bags, wallets, wallets, pets and many other things. AirTag trackers pair with an iPhone and quickly connect to Apple’s iCloud network. The AirTag device connected to the iCloud network sends a signal to the nearest Apple device with the BLE (low power Bluetooth frequency) they emit and sends its location to the user via iCloud. With this ecosystem network, a user with AirTag can easily find the location of the lost AirTagged object.
Previously, people whose own belongings were stolen thanks to AirTag went to a police with the location of the AirTag and enabled the police to catch the thieves. At the same time, Apple has launched a new AirTag programme for suitcases lost at airports in recent months, in agreement with companies around the world, including Turkish Airlines. Mark Gurman, known for his accurate analyses of Apple products, says that the new AirTag 2 model may appear soon. In addition, according to Mark Gurman, a new generation chip used in the iPhone 15 series will be used in AirTag 2.
The current existing AirTags use the iPhone 11’s tracking chip and these chips can perform Precision Tracking between 10 and 30 metres. However, the new generation tracking chip, which emerged in the iPhone 15 series introduced last year, can perform precise tracking between 30 and 90 metres. The new AirTag 2 model is expected to be introduced in 2025, but the launch is expected to take place in 2026.
