The highly anticipated Alien series, Alien: Earth, premiered last week. The series aired simultaneously on FX and Hulu in the US, while it aired on Disney+ in the rest of the world. The series’ initial week of release indicates a strong reception.
Alien: Earth is off to a strong start
The first episode, released on August 12th, reached 9.7 million views in its first week alone. This figure includes viewership on Disney+ and Hulu alone. It’s anticipated that this number will rise even higher when viewership on FX is included.

Disney does not regularly release viewership figures for its series, so it’s difficult to determine Alien: Earth’s exact ranking among the most-watched Disney series. However, initial data suggests it ranks quite high.
The series is created by Noah Hawley, creator of series like Fargo and Legion, and, as the title suggests, takes the story to Earth. The events take place in 2120, just two years before the events of the first Alien film.
The story begins with a mysterious ship crashing on Earth, and a young woman and a group of soldiers who go to check on its occupants face the greatest threat the planet has ever faced. While the rescue team struggles to survive, giant corporations are vying for power over this “opportunity.”
The series stars young actress Sydney Chandler. She is joined by Alex Lawther, Timothy Olyphant, Essie Davis, Samuel Blenkin, Babou Ceesay, and David Rysdahl.
