Alien, one of the iconic franchises in the science fiction and horror genres, has returned to audiences this time in a series format. Titled Alien: Earth, the series premiered today on FX and Hulu in the US and on Disney+ in many countries, including Turkey. The series has received positive reviews from both viewers and critics since its release.
Alien: Earth Officially Debuts
Noah Hawley, known for his work on Fargo and Legion, is the creator of the series. Ridley Scott, who has directed three films in the series, is now a producer. In this respect, Alien: Earth is the first major television adaptation of the series to go beyond the cinema.
The series’ story, a key difference, focuses on Earth. The events of 2120 take place just two years before the original Alien film. The story begins with a mysterious ship crashing on Earth.
A young woman and a group of soldiers who go to investigate the ship face an unprecedented threat to humanity. The characters are forced to both grapple with this threat and make decisions about its potential consequences.
The series has been a critical success since its premiere. Opening with a high score of 93% on Rotten Tomatoes, Alien: Earth has garnered critical acclaim, earning an 84 on MetaCritic. Reviews highlight the series’ success in establishing atmosphere, acting performances, and ability to forge new directions while remaining true to the franchise.
Starring young actor Sydney Chandler, the series also stars well-known actors such as Alex Lawther, Timothy Olyphant, Essie Davis, Samuel Blenkin, Babou Ceesay, and David Rysdahl. While first-day viewing figures have not yet been released, the series has already earned its place among the year’s standout productions.
