Directed by Matt Shakman, who attracted attention with the WandaVision series, the production offers a narrative independent of the classic Marvel universe. The story takes place in a retro-futuristic parallel universe reminiscent of 1960s America. The events that take shape in this atmosphere are about the Fantastic Four facing the approaching threat of Galactus.
The cast consists of important names that increase expectations. Pedro Pascal plays the role of Reed Richards, aka Mr. Fantastic, while Vanessa Kirby plays Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn plays Johnny Storm, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach plays Ben Grimm, aka The Thing.
The Silver Surfer character, who will be seen in a different interpretation for the first time in the film, is played by Julia Garner. This core cast is accompanied by names such as Ralph Ineson, Paul Walter Hauser, John Malkovich, Natasha Lyonne and Sarah Niles.
Positioned as one of Marvel’s most ambitious productions of the new era, First Steps promises viewers not only new characters but also a different universe experience. Being independent of the MCU’s chronological structure gives the film both creative freedom and a fresh start.
