Jeep is returning to the mid-size SUV segment, where it has been silent for a while, with the completely renewed Cherokee for the 2026 model year. This new model, which follows the fifth-generation Cherokee, whose production was discontinued in the US market in 2023, draws attention with the brand’s modern design approach and technological infrastructure. Jeep presented this return to the public with the first images.
The new Jeep Cherokee will be introduced
The new Cherokee reflects the evolution that Jeep has seen in its recent products in terms of design. The lines used in the Wagoneer S and the new Compass are also evident in this model. While the seven-slot grille unique to Jeep maintains its place at the front, the general stance of the vehicle offers a strong and muscular structure. The sharp lines continue in the rear section, and a visual kinship with the new Compass is striking, especially in the taillight design.

The 2026 Cherokee is built on Stellantis’ new-generation platform called STLA Large. This architecture allows for both hybrid and internal combustion and electric engine options. It is known that Jeep has already confirmed a hybrid version. While the electric variant is also on the way, there is a strong possibility that a gasoline engine option may also be included in the product range.
Jeep CEO Bob Broderdorf stated that they will position the new Cherokee “at the center of the mainstream product range.” Broderdorf said that the model will be ambitious in its class in terms of product variety, level of innovation and standard equipment coverage and will be strategically located between the Grand Cherokee and the Compass. The company also emphasized its competitive pricing policy.
The official launch of the new Cherokee will be made by the end of the year. The model is planned to hit the roads as of 2026. The vehicle, which is expected to be equipped with modern driving technologies for urban use, is also preparing to continue the Jeep tradition with its off-road capabilities.
With its new design, technical flexibility with the STLA Large infrastructure and various engine alternatives, the 2026 Jeep Cherokee seems to be a candidate to be a remarkable player in the reshaped SUV market.
