Thunderbolts, the new link of the Marvel universe, received positive reviews from critics after its release. However, despite this positive picture, the film had a mediocre opening at the box office. Although Thunderbolts was liked by Marvel fans, it did not achieve the same success for the general audience.
New Marvel film Thunderbolts had a slow start at the box office
Thunderbolts grossed $76 million in its first weekend in the US. Together with $86.1 million from international markets, the total opening gross reached $162.1 million. Although this figure is satisfactory for an ordinary film, it was low when evaluated specifically for Marvel films.

The film was met with caution due to the fact that it brought together little-known characters of the Marvel universe. Despite this, critics described the film as a tidy project in terms of script and character development.
In recent years, Marvel productions have not opened well in their first weekend. This shows that audiences outside the loyal Marvel audience are much more sceptical about new productions than before.
It is thought that the film’s box office performance in the coming weeks may reverse this negative situation. However, the opening numbers once again show that even in Marvel’s vast universe, not every production carries an automatic guarantee of success.
