Automotive giant Mercedes-Benz is reinterpreting its legendary grille design, considered the face of the brand, with the requirements and aesthetics of the electric age. The first representative of this revolution, which takes the Sensual Purity philosophy to the next level, will be the all-electric new generation of the brand’s best-selling model, the new Mercedes-Benz GLC. All eyes are on this exciting world premiere, which will take place at the IAA Mobility show in Munich on September 7, 2025.
The new Mercedes-Benz GLC draws attention with its design
For over a century, the chrome grille has been at the heart of the Mercedes-Benz car identity and has always been a symbol of power, prestige, and elegance. From the legendary Mercedes-Benz 600 Pullman (W100) to the W114 series, popularly known as the Strich 8, and unforgettable models like the W108 and W111 of the S-Class, the heart of the brand’s luxury segment, the grille has served as a signature proudly worn by millions of cars. Evolving from its initial, vertical, simple form to the more complex, horizontal architecture of recent years, this element has always been a visual DNA that leaves no doubt about the car’s origins.

However, with the rise of electric cars, this once functional component, which allowed the internal combustion engine to breathe, has had to take on new meaning. Mercedes-Benz has turned this challenge into an opportunity, transforming the grille into a work of art in the new electric GLC. It’s no longer just a grille; it’s a digital face where technology and design collide, shaped by a wide chrome frame, a sophisticated grille with a smoked-glass effect, and integrated contour lighting.
This new design culminates in the optional backlit light graphic consisting of 942 dots. These high-tech pixels are animated, bringing the car to life, giving the new GLC a dynamic and vibrant character even when stationary. The iconic three-pointed star at the center of the panel and the surrounding contour are also illuminated, creating a distinctive and futuristic appearance even at night. The new GLC’s revolution isn’t limited to design. This model will also be the first vehicle family to feature MB.OS, the next-generation operating system that will power all future Mercedes-Benz vehicles. Described as a “super brain,” this system promises to radically transform the driving experience by managing all vehicle functions intelligently, intuitively, and interconnectedly. The new GLC seamlessly combines Mercedes-Benz’s legacy of reliability and elegance with cutting-edge electric drive systems and intelligent software, setting a new milestone in the mid-size SUV segment.
The design and technology revolution continues inside. The all-new and seamless MBUX HYPERSCREEN, which greets the driver and passengers as they open, elevates the interior to an unprecedented level of digital luxury. This massive screen serves not only as an information panel but also as an intuitive command center that seamlessly integrates into the driver’s life. The unparalleled comfort, safety, and “Welcome Home” feeling synonymous with Mercedes-Benz are enhanced by this wave of digitalization, making the electric GLC not just a means of transportation but also a delightful living space.
For years, the GLC has topped the charts as the brand’s most popular and best-selling model, and this bold electrification clearly demonstrates Mercedes-Benz’s commitment to the future and its claim to leadership. The new GLC carries its iconic legacy into an electric future while maintaining its promise of versatility, intuitiveness, and smooth driving.
