Tron, one of the long-established science fiction franchises, returns after a long hiatus. The new installment in the series, Tron: Ares, will hit theaters on October 10, 2025. As the release date approaches, Disney has released a new trailer for the film. The released footage reveals the series’s unique take on the classic digital world theme.
A new trailer for Tron: Ares has been released.
First released in 1982, Tron followed Jeff Bridges’ character, Kevin Flynn, as he transitions to the digital universe. The 2010 film Tron: Legacy reimagined this story through Flynn’s son. The new film, Tron: Ares, reverses the series’ narrative tradition. This time, it tells the story of an artificial intelligence, a software program called Ares, emerging from the digital universe and entering the physical world.
Directed by Joachim Rønning. Rønning has previously directed major productions such as Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales and Maleficent: Mistress of Evil. Leading the cast is Jared Leto.
Leto is joined by Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Cameron Monaghan, and Jodie Turner-Smith. The newly released trailer confirms Jeff Bridges’ return to the series as Kevin Flynn.
The soundtrack also undergoes a significant change. Daft Punk, who handled the music for Tron: Legacy, is replaced by Nine Inch Nails. The Grammy-winning band has prepared a special soundtrack for Tron: Ares, some of which are available on digital platforms.
Disney has stepped up its promotional activities for the film, positioning it as one of the year’s standout releases for both fans of the series and sci-fi enthusiasts. Tron: Ares will be released on October 10, 2025.
