Ubisoft has broken its silence following the accidental leak of information about three months ago and officially confirmed its development of a Far Cry series. The gaming giant is partnering with FX Productions to bring this exciting project to life.
According to the announcement, the series will premiere on Hulu in the United States. International viewers and fans in Turkey will have the opportunity to watch the series through the Disney+ library.
Who is in the cast of Far Cry?
The actors behind the project have already raised expectations. It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia star Rob McElhenney and Fargo creator Noah Hawley will serve as executive producers. It’s also reported that Rob McElhenney will not only be behind the scenes but will also appear in the series as an actor.
The production team isn’t limited to just these two individuals. Emilia Serrano, Nick Frenkel, and Gerard Guillemot, brother of Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot, are also executive producers. This strong cast aims to best convey the game’s chaotic atmosphere on screen.
Ubisoft has shared clear information about the series’ structure. The series is designed as an anthology series, similar to Black Mirror or Fargo. This means viewers will witness a different story, new characters, and a completely different setting with each new season.
Noah Hawley emphasizes that this format perfectly aligns with the game’s spirit. The renowned producer states, “Each Far Cry game is a variation on a theme,” and that the series will follow the same principle. The aim is to explore the complexities of human nature while creating a grand action spectacle that evolves every year.
With the announcement, fans were reminded of the 2008 film adaptation. Directed by Uwe Boll, the film received poor reviews from critics and only has a 12% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Viewers hope the new series will erase this negative reputation.
Rob McElhenney expressed his confidence in the project, stating that Ubisoft has been very generous to them. The team is working diligently to avoid disappointing fans of the series as they adapt one of gaming’s most iconic universes for television.
