Sony is introducing a significant update to the DualSense and DualSense Edge wireless controllers with the new system update for PlayStation 5. These controllers can now stay paired with up to four different devices simultaneously. This feature will make it easier to switch between the PS5 console, PC, Mac, and mobile devices, providing players with a smoother, cross-platform experience.
PS5 DualSense controller gains new feature
Currently, you have to re-pair the DualSense controller via Bluetooth each time you want to connect it to another device. With the new update, the controller will have onboard memories for four different devices, eliminating the need for re-pairing and allowing users to quickly switch between devices.

The multi-pairing feature is activated by pressing the PS button and an action button (triangle, circle, cross, or square) on the DualSense or DualSense Edge controller for more than five seconds. Users will first unplug all USB cables from the controller and ensure the light bar and player indicator are off.
Next, turn on Bluetooth on the device to be paired and select the controller. During this process, the light bar and player indicators will flash, indicating which memory slot the device is assigned to. Once pairing is complete, simply press the PS button and the corresponding action button together to switch between devices.
The new feature will work on Windows PC, Mac, mobile devices, and other supported platforms. The PS5 or PS5 Pro will serve as the primary PlayStation console, using one of the four pairing slots on the controller. Users will be able to connect three other devices to their controller in addition to their primary platform.
Connecting the DualSense controller to different devices has previously been a time-consuming and cumbersome process for multi-platform gamers. Sony’s simplification of the multi-pairing process with this update will significantly improve the user experience. A global availability date for the new feature has not yet been announced.
