For the platform, which is very popular among young people, many bans have been on the agenda for 3-4 months, especially in the US. However, bans are not only imposed in the US, there are also other obstacles to the application by other countries. For example, a UK-based banning move was added to the steps that upset TikTok today.

A total of 8 countries have banned TikTok, including the UK

As it was revealed today, the UK has banned TikTok from being used on government devices. Individuals will still be able to access TikTok on their private phones. But official devices will no longer be able to install the app due to “China-based data concerns”. The United Kingdom is just the latest to ban TikTok on government devices.

“The security of sensitive government information must come first, so today we are banning this app on government devices. The use of other data-extracting apps will be kept under review. Restricting the use of TikTok on Government devices is a prudent and proportionate step following advice from our cyber security experts.” said Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster Oliver Dowden.

The app was also banned for European Commission employees last month. The European Commission completely blocked its staff from using TikTok due to security concerns. All staff was informed on Thursday morning to remove TikTok from their official devices, a senior official told POLITICO. They were also told that if they had any work-related apps installed, they should also uninstall TikTok from their personal devices.

Last month, the US Senate took a step for the application, which was considered “very risky to use” due to the security problems that emerged. Again due to “national security concerns”, it unanimously passed a resolution banning federal government employees from downloading TikTok on government-owned devices.

At the time, it was informed that this ban would not be put into action immediately. Because the resolution would have to go to President Joe Biden for approval. Then this happened and Biden officially approved the bans and regulations included in the 1.7 trillion dollar budget bill. What do you think about these restraining orders?
