The US Department of Defence has collaborated with the artificial intelligence company Scale AI in order to benefit from artificial intelligence-supported solutions while determining action plans in the field. Under this agreement, the Pentagon will launch an initiative called Thunderforge and make AI technologies available to the army. In this way, artificial intelligence will analyse threats in the field and determine the most appropriate action plans.
The US military will benefit from artificial intelligence technology
Although it is known that artificial intelligence-supported assistants are widely used today through chatbots, more advanced systems called AI agents are expected to enter our lives in the future. These systems will allow not only chatting but also preparing reports and supporting decision-making processes. The fact that the US has taken action to use this new generation of AI technology in the army shows that developments in this field are progressing rapidly.

The Pentagon’s Defence Innovation Unit stated that this project will provide a critical transformation in military operations, heralding the transition to a data-driven war strategy powered by artificial intelligence. It was emphasised that AI will enable the military to quickly process and analyse large data stacks, detect threats earlier and help develop appropriate strategies.
It seems that the US military’s work on the use of artificial intelligence will not be limited to this. Speaking to Defence One recently, a senior official made it clear that they will invest in autonomous killer robots. While the combination of these technologies reveals how critical a role AI will play in the military field, it also raised the potential risks that such systems could create in the future.
