The competition between AMD and Intel continues to heat up. While Intel has been the leader in the processor market for years, AMD is attracting attention with its affordable Ryzen series. Recent reports have revealed that AMD has achieved remarkable growth in the processor market.
AMD has achieved a first in the processor market
In the first quarter of 2024, AMD reached a milestone by capturing its highest ever share of the processor market. According to a report by a market research firm, AMD increased its market share to 23.9 percent from 19.8 percent in the previous quarter.
AMD’s Ryzen processors are popular in desktop and laptop computers. The Ryzen series, which stands out with its affordable prices, also offers many artificial intelligence-based features. In this context, it appeals to content creators, gamers and businesses.
On the other hand, AMD’s server processors also increased. Epycs server processors reached a share of 23.6 percent. The company, which improves data center operations, works with many cloud providers and organizations.
However, AMD lost some share to Intel in mobile computing. Accordingly, its share in the mobile market hovered around 19.3 percent. Intel’s rise seems to be linked to its new Meteor Lake processors.
However, the increase in both the desktop and enterprise markets helped AMD achieve its highest processor market share ever.
