China-based Noetix Robotics has reached a new milestone in the accessibility of humanoid robot technology with the introduction of Bumi, a compact humanoid robot priced at just 9,998 yuan, or $1,370.
World’s cheapest humanoid robot announced
At just 94 centimeters tall and weighing 12 kilograms, Bumi was designed to differentiate itself from full-size robots produced by companies like Unitree or Ubtech, rather than competing directly with them.
Bumi is a small, lightweight, and affordable robot designed for home and educational environments. Despite its low price, the robot delivers fluid and stable performance in basic skills like walking, balancing, and dancing.
Noetix describes Bumi as the first consumer-grade humanoid robot under 10,000 yuan. The company states that this development represents a significant step in the commercialization of humanoid robots and aims to bring the devices into everyday life.
This aggressive pricing is driven by the use of lightweight composite materials, the company’s in-house developed motion control system, and a simplified modular design. Noetix prioritizes educational interaction and learning experiences over high-end industrial functionality.
The company’s previous model, the Noetix N2, received over 2,500 orders and competed in a humanoid robot half-marathon earlier this year. These successes have made Noetix one of China’s fastest-growing robotics startups.
Recalling that Unitree introduced the most affordable full-size humanoid robot in July, priced at approximately $6,000, Noetix is bringing this cost threshold even lower with the Bumi. Bumi runs on a 48V 3.5Ah battery and offers 1 to 2 hours of use on a single charge.
The robot can function as both a learning companion and a personal assistant for children and beginners, featuring features such as drag-and-drop visual programming and voice command support. The company plans to launch pre-orders between China’s “Double 11” (November 11) and “Double 12” (December 12) shopping festivals.
