ASUS has quietly added the ROG Strix XG27JCG, a groundbreaking model in the gaming monitor market, to its official website. This new monitor combines 5K resolution with a 180Hz refresh rate, making it the first gaming monitor to offer this combination. While official pricing and global release details are not yet finalized, more information is expected to be revealed at CES 2026.
ROG Strix XG27JCG Unveiled
The monitor features a 27-inch Fast IPS panel. With overclocking, it supports a maximum refresh rate of 180Hz at a resolution of 5120 x 2880 pixels. One of the most notable features is its dual-mode functionality, allowing users to reduce the resolution to QHD (2560 x 1440) and increase the refresh rate to 330Hz for games requiring ultra-fast response times. This allows users to easily switch between high-resolution sharp visuals and high frame rates for competitive gaming.

The XG27JCG offers a pixel density of 218 pixels per inch (PPI) and a peak brightness of 600 nits. Certified with VESA DisplayHDR 600, the screen covers 97% of the DCI-P3 color gamut for color accuracy.
The monitor utilizes 10-bit color depth and has a typical brightness of 350 nits. It supports both NVIDIA G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro technologies, and also includes ELMB 2 (Extreme Low Motion Blur) and Variable Overdrive features for enhanced motion clarity.
Connectivity options are extensive. The monitor features a DisplayPort 1.4 input with Display Stream Compression (DSC), two HDMI 2.1 ports with Constant Rate Link (FRL), and a USB Type-C port providing 15W of power.
For peripherals, there’s a USB hub with three USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A ports and a 3.5mm headphone jack. ASUS has also added AI-powered features to the monitor, such as Dynamic Shadow Support, Dynamic Crosshair, and AI Visual, which automatically adjust image settings according to the viewing environment.
Thanks to its ergonomic stand, height, tilt, swivel, and pivot adjustments can be easily made, and it offers 100x100mm VESA mount support. It also features a 1/4-inch tripod mount for attaching accessories or cameras.
The monitor is reportedly available for pre-order from a Hong Kong retailer called Faroll for 6,499 Hong Kong Dollars (approximately $835). This suggests that the first batches of the device will be released before the end of the year.
