Microsoft has rolled up its sleeves to make the Xbox app even more user-friendly for Windows. The journey that started last year with the introduction of the compact mode, which initially aimed to make the user interface compatible with small screens, turns out to be just the beginning. Now, the Jump Back feature has been added to facilitate navigation in the Xbox app using D-pads and joysticks. Let’s take a closer look at what this feature simplifies…
Resume play feature for Windows’ Xbox app
Today, Microsoft released a special update for Xbox Insiders. This update introduces a significant feature called “Jump Back.” With this feature, you can quickly return to the last games you played on your Windows portable devices. The main screen of the Xbox app will display up to nine games, and you can start the game directly by pressing the menu button on your controller.
As if that weren’t enough, Microsoft has also revamped the friends panel. Now, you can quickly access the friends list from a sidebar that is more accessible with a portable gaming console or controller. The friends panel is equipped with large buttons for joining party chats, making clicking even easier.
While these updates look good, using the Xbox app on a device like the ROG Ally can still be a bit cumbersome. Especially accessing the sidebar without touching the screen can be difficult. The app can hang in some sections, and you might need to scroll to the top of the page or select a specific item to access the sidebar.
Microsoft still has a way to go to improve the overall portable console experience on Windows, but there is an opportunity for PC Game Pass subscribers to benefit from early improvements. By enhancing the Xbox app with updates like the Resume Play feature, Microsoft aims to enrich and make the gaming experience more accessible for Windows users.
Although there is still a need for improvement in some areas, updates like the Jump Back feature will elevate your Xbox experience on your portable devices to the next level. What do you think about this update? You can write your thoughts in the comments section below.
