AMD’s new FSR 4 technology was developed specifically for RX 9000 series graphics cards and will offer machine learning-based image enhancement for the first time. In a promotion at CES 2025, it was seen that it provided a significant increase in quality in games such as Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. This technology, which has shown a significant improvement compared to FSR 3.1, now promises an image quality closer to DLSS.

It is stated that 35 games will be optimized with FSR 4 in the first phase. These include major productions such as Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, The Last of Us Part I & II Remastered, Civilization 7 and Horizon Forbidden West. In addition, among the studios that AMD has collaborated with are giant names such as Naughty Dog, Insomniac Games, Guerrilla and SEGA.

AMD has also made some changes to performance modes with FSR 4. The ultra-performance mode found in previous versions has been removed. The lowest setting in the new system will be “performance mode”, which will rescale the game by halving its resolution. In other words, there will be no direct scaling from 1280 x 720 resolution to 4K.
