The system application called Android System SafetyCore, developed by Google and distributed in Android 9 and above versions since November 2024, creates serious questions in terms of users’ personal data.
SafetyCore puts personal data at risk
Although it was designed for security purposes, the extensive access it has on the device and the fact that it is installed in the background without the user’s knowledge has brought the removal of this application to the agenda.

We can say that the basic function of SafetyCore is to automatically blur images containing nudity sent or received through the Google Messages application. The user sees a warning message before viewing this image and has the option to open or ignore the content.
Google states that SafetyCore works within the device, no data is sent to the servers while analyzing the images, and it only scans the images in Google Messages. However, despite these explanations, it is not possible to think that an application installed without the approval of the device owner and working at the system level does not threaten privacy.
How to Remove SafetyCore?
Since the application does not affect the general functionality of your phone, you can uninstall it with peace of mind. Here are the steps:
- Open the Settings menu.
- Go to the Apps section.
- Activate the Show system apps option from the filter or three-dot menu at the top right.
- Find the Android System SafetyCore app in the list and tap on it.
- Tap on the Uninstall button at the bottom of the page and confirm.
Removing the app in this way means that your messages or other files will no longer be analyzed. However, there is an important detail to keep in mind: SafetyCore can be automatically reinstalled or activated with Android updates.
Therefore, you should regularly check the app list after system updates to see if SafetyCore has returned. What do you think about this? Share your thoughts with us in the comments section below.
