OnePlus is going through a difficult time in the German market. Following its previous patent dispute with Nokia, which resulted in a nearly two-year sales ban, the company is facing a similar problem again. This time, it has to cancel the sale of phones because of wireless communication technology patents.
OnePlus halts sales in Germany over patent dispute
OnePlus has once again been forced to halt phone sales in Germany due to an ongoing patent dispute. Wireless technologies developer InterDigital claims that OnePlus is infringing some of its patents related to 5G and other key smartphone technologies.
This development comes after OnePlus resolved a similar patent dispute with Nokia, lifting a nearly two-year sales ban. In a statement, OnePlus said it values intellectual property rights and standard essential patents. However, InterDigital believes that OnePlus should obtain licenses for its patent portfolio.

OnePlus said it will continue negotiations with InterDigital to find a solution. However, it confirmed that it will stop selling phones in Germany until this process is completed. The dispute between the two companies will also affect OnePlus’ latest flagship model, the OnePlus 13, which OnePlus plans to launch in the next few months.
In the meantime, other OnePlus products such as the OnePlus Pad 2, Buds Pro and Watch 2 will be available for purchase in Germany. But those who want to buy the company’s smartphones will have to order from other European countries for now.
