Ubisoft, which is known to be going through tough economic times, plans to overcome this situation with remakes of the Assassin’s Creed series.
Ubisoft: Many Assassin’s Creed Remake games coming
When it comes to remakes in the gaming world, Capcom’s Resident Evil 2 Remake is one of the most successful examples that comes to mind. This project not only gave life to an old classic, but also became a breath of fresh air for a company like Capcom, which was going through tough economic times at the time. Ubisoft is thinking of coming back to life with the Capcom model.
Last week, Ubisoft announced that they are working on remakes of the Assassin’s Creed series with a large fan base. Known for its stealth gameplay, historical background and unforgettable characters like Ezio and Altair, the series is seen as one of the most special game series in history for millions of players.
If done right, these remakes could revitalize Ubisoft in the same way that Resident Evil 2 elevated Capcom. Ubisoft has been going through a rough patch lately. Disappointing game releases, open-world gameplay lacking depth, and controversial decisions have frustrated fans and pushed critics to harsh reviews and comments.
After the disappointing release of Resident Evil 6, Capcom’s decision to remake Resident Evil 2 was a game-changing move. Instead of just updating the graphics, Capcom built the game completely from scratch. The result is a game that feels both nostalgically true to its roots and excitingly new, breaking records by selling 13.9 million copies.
In this sense, sources close to Ubisoft say that Ubisoft is planning to release a Remake after each new Asssassin’s Creed game. It seems that Ubisoft sees remakes as the way out of the new economic depression.
