One of the debates about electric cars for years has been their range. Many people have said that the vehicles could be stranded or have battery problems in the long run. But one Tesla owner seems to have ignored these claims. The 10-year-old Tesla Model S surprised with a mileage of close to 2 million km.
10-year-old Tesla Model S made me say no more
Hansjörg von Gemmingen-Hornberg, who lives in Germany, did unexpected things with the Tesla Model S he bought in 2014. The electric sedan’s odometer exceeded 1.9 million kilometers, making a big splash around the world.
Gemmingen-Hornberg bought the Model S in 2014 with around 29,000 km on the odometer. For more than 10 years, the driver has been using the electric vehicle; he said that he has traveled continuously to Europe, Asia, Africa and America during this period.
His last post on social media attracted great attention. The odometer of the 10-year-old Model S currently shows 1 million 960 kilometers. This means that the Model S is the Tesla with the highest mileage in the world.
However, he stated that the vehicle has created significant problems during its long life. Gemmingen-Hornberg stated that the vehicle has undergone 4 battery and 13 electric motor replacements to prevent the vehicle from being stranded. On the other hand, he stated that the electric motor is prone to create problems because it is one of Tesla’s first performance models.
Elon Musk said last year that a Tesla model that exceeded 1 million kilometers broke a record. However, the Model S, which has traveled 1.9 million kilometers, does not seem to have caught his attention yet. We will see in time whether Elon Musk will hear the echo on social media.
