Although not directly related to our country, the potential ban of TikTok in the United States due to security concerns remains a hot topic. As TikTok users continue to create videos and content addressing the issue, it was previously announced that the Biden administration’s decision to ban the platform would be postponed until Trump’s inauguration. However, TikTok seems likely to shut down operations in the U.S. before this transition. Here are the details.
TikTok Could Be Banned in the U.S. Before Trump Takes Office
For a long time, there have been allegations of security vulnerabilities associated with TikTok. The U.S. government has taken action and decided to ban the platform in the country. While this decision was expected to take effect under the Trump administration, TikTok’s statement suggests that the platform might cease operations in the U.S. before January 20, when Trump officially takes office.

On Friday night, TikTok issued a bulletin describing what it called a “possible shutdown.” In this statement, the company indicated that it might pull its services from the U.S. over the weekend without waiting for Trump’s administration.
TikTok’s Statement:
“The statements made today by Biden’s White House and the Department of Justice failed to provide the necessary clarity and assurance to ensure TikTok’s accessibility to more than 170 million Americans.
If the Biden Administration does not make a definitive statement to satisfy critical service providers and provide assurance that no enforcement action will take place, unfortunately, TikTok will be forced to shut down on January 19.”
It appears TikTok is not planning to remain in the U.S. market for much longer and may shut down earlier than expected due to enforcement concerns.
