In the meeting between the two leaders, which lasted about 1.5 hours, the demands of the parties and a possible peace process were discussed. In his statement after the meeting, Trump made the world agenda by saying, ‘I agreed with Putin to end the war in Ukraine.’
Ukraine-Russia war ends
Trump’s statement was one of the first concrete steps towards the end of the long-standing war. Russia annexed Crimea in 2014, triggering tensions with Ukraine, and then supported pro-Russian separatist groups in eastern Ukraine.
