The Vision of Domestic and National Production is 40 Years Old

This 40-year period is described not only as the history of an institution, but as a strategic epic written by the nation on its march to independence. At the heart of this success lies the vision of relying solely on one’s own intellect, ingenuity, and engineers, without expecting anything from anyone.

An ecosystem with a signature on every front of defense—land, sea, air, space, and cyberspace—has been built. Furthermore, under the leadership of the President, it is emphasized that every step taken toward a fully independent defense industry is a cornerstone in strengthening the strategic infrastructure of the Turkish Century. Every project in this process is seen as a resolutely woven national will.

Turkey is no longer merely an importing country. Today, it has reached a position of providing solutions to friends and allies and exporting value-added technology. This transformation is described as the spark ignited by the National Technology Initiative and the production spirit rooted in the National Competency Initiative.

Haluk Görgün, President of Defense Industries of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey, shared the following on his social media account:

Forty years ago, we dreamed a dream, forged from the very grain of these lands: Let it be local, let it be national… Without expecting anything from anyone, without bowing to anyone; relying solely on our own intellect, our own ingenuity, and our own engineers… Today, when we look back, we see that this is not merely the history of an institution shaped over the years. It is a strategic epic written by our nation on its march to independence.

We have built an ecosystem that has made its mark on every front of defense—land, sea, air, space, and cyberspace—providing solutions to the world and inspiring trust in our friends. Under the leadership of our President, every step we have taken with the goal of a fully independent defense industry has been a cornerstone strengthening the strategic infrastructure of the Turkish Century.

Today, every engineer is the bearer of a vision, every technician a partner in a great effort, and every project a resolutely built national will.

We are no longer a country that merely imports. Today, we have a Turkey that provides solutions to our friends and allies and exports value-added technology. This is the spark ignited by the National Technology Initiative: National Competence. “The spirit of production is at the heart of the Initiative.

Our strength lies in Turkey. Our path is illuminated by domestic and national production; and our goal is to build not only the present but also the future,” he said.
