Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) and GE Aerospace have signed a significant memorandum of understanding (MoU) regarding the HÜRJET Jet Trainer program. At the 17th International Defense Industry Fair (IDEF), held in Istanbul from July 22-27, TAI and GE Aerospace discussed the future of the HÜRJET Jet Trainer. The parties agreed to strengthen the F404 turbofan engines and potential future collaborations through the memorandum of understanding.
The aim was to utilize the future F404 turbofan engines in the HÜRJET Jet Trainer and develop the necessary procurement activities for their integration. The cooperation was also aimed to be strengthened and supported by GE Aerospace during the flight test activities of the new prototypes. In addition to these potential collaborations, it was decided to take additional steps regarding the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of the F404 engine.

This collaboration, which aims to highlight Turkey’s advanced technology capabilities in the defense industry, will enable HÜRJET to strengthen its global potential by securing its success.
TAI General Manager Dr. Mehmet Demiroğlu, commenting on the memorandum of understanding, stated that the HÜRJET offers excellent performance in a single-engine, two-seat configuration, in addition to its modern avionics and high-performance features. Demiroğlu stated, “The HÜRJET plays a critical role in modern pilot training. We believe this memorandum of understanding will bring success to all parties. Our HÜRJET Jet Trainer Aircraft has achieved significant success recently. It has completed over 210 flights to date. It has performed significant overseas flights and demonstrated its capabilities at international exhibitions. As a result of these successes, significant agreements have been signed with Spanish companies for the future of the HÜRJET. We will further strengthen our collaboration with GE Aerospace to further enhance these achievements. Our goal is global leadership in the aerospace and defense industries.”
