The Turkish automotive industry broke a historic record in export performance in June. According to data shared by the Uludağ Automotive Industry Exporters’ Association (OİB), the sector achieved an export of 3 billion 408 million dollars in June, an increase of 30 percent compared to the same period last year. This figure was the highest export value the automotive industry has reached in June to date.
A new record was broken in automotive exports
The sector ranked first in Turkey’s total exports in June. The share of automotive in total exports was 16.6 percent. The sector continued its upward performance as of the first six months of the year. In the January-June period, automotive exports increased by 13 percent compared to the same period last year, reaching approximately 20 billion dollars.

When looking at product groups in June, Supply Industry exports increased by 13 percent to 1 billion 180 million dollars. Exports in the passenger car category increased by 16 percent, reaching 1 billion 96 million dollars.
There was a 59 percent increase in motor vehicles for transporting goods, and exports in this category reached $626 million. In the bus, minibus and midibus group, exports increased by 66 percent, reaching $293 million. The increase in tractor exports was also remarkable. In this product group, an increase of 504 percent was recorded compared to the same month of the previous year, and exports rose to $180 million.
When examined on a country basis, the highest exports in June were made to Germany with $556 million. Exports to Germany increased by 74 percent. Exports to France, which ranked second, increased by 36 percent, reaching $429 million.
Exports to the United Kingdom, the third largest market, increased by 2 percent, reaching $330 million. Exports to Belgium increased by 92 percent, to Romania by 55 percent, and to Slovenia by 57 percent.
When evaluated according to country groups, European Union countries were the largest export markets in June. Exports to EU countries increased by 42 percent compared to the same month last year, reaching $2 billion 527 million.
This figure corresponded to 74.2 percent of total automotive exports. Exports to other European countries increased by 11 percent. Exports to the North American Free Trade Area increased by 42 percent and to other American countries by 94 percent. Exports to Middle Eastern countries decreased by 38 percent in the same period.
OIB data show that the Turkish automotive sector was able to respond quickly to the increase in demand in global markets and continued its export performance with a strong start to the second half of the year.
