TURKSAT General Manager Ahmet Hamdi Atalay announced that satellite-connected internet service will be put into operation in the AJet fleet this year. Thanks to this new service, passengers will have uninterrupted and high-speed internet access in the sky.
TURKSAT is starting satellite-based internet service on planes
Atalay, who stated that 178 zettabytes of data are currently produced worldwide, emphasized that data is a great asset when managed correctly and a serious source of problems when managed poorly.

The first step of the in-flight internet project will be taken on AJet planes this year. Atalay said that the project will be expanded to other planes in the Turkish Airlines fleet in the future. Thanks to the satellite-based system, passengers will be able to maintain their connection with the world throughout the flight.
Atalay stated that this work is not only a technological development but also a national gain. TÜRKSAT signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the French satellite operator Eutelsat in March. With the agreement, TÜRKSAT will benefit from the multi-beam capacity of Eutelsat’s Konnect VHTS satellite in Europe.
This cooperation also aims to expand the scope of in-flight communication services offered to airlines in Europe. By combining the Ka-band coverage of TÜRKSAT’s own satellite, Türksat 5B, with the European coverage of Eutelsat’s Konnect VHTS satellite, in-flight internet service will be provided in a wider geography.
In this way, a stronger service will be provided to both local and international airlines. So what do you think about this? You can share your views with us in the comments section below.
