GoPro made two important announcements as part of the update released today. The first is a Mac version of the GoPro Quik app for video and photo editing. Second, the company added a new Premium+ plan to its subscription tiers.
GoPro Quik is out for macOS
GoPro has announced that it will bring its video and photo editing tool to macOS. Previously available for iOS and Android, Quik will now be available for Mac computers. The first version of the Quik app will be available for free to Premium subscribers.
The Quik macOS app will allow projects to be edited on different devices in sync with the mobile app. For example, you will be able to continue the video editing you started on iPhone on your Mac computer.
The Quik app is also getting some AI-powered features. Experiences such as “beat synchronization” will be offered to automatically match edits to music.
On the other hand, GoPro is now offering three different tiers for subscription. In addition to Premium, which is currently available for $49.99 per year, a $99.99 Premium+ tier has been added. With this subscription, HyperSmooth Pro video stabilization and 500 GB cloud storage will be available.
Users who do not want to subscribe to Premium will be offered a Quik subscription for $9.99 per year. With this subscription, which will provide access to both mobile and Mac versions, you will be able to try all the features of Quik.
The Windows version of the Quik desktop application will be available later this year. However, no official date has been given yet.
