Ubisoft announced that it is actively working on new projects for the popular Driver series. Although plans for a live-action series have been shelved, exciting developments are on the way for this classic series of the gaming world.
New projects on the way for the Driver series
Ubisoft has confirmed that it has canceled the live-action series project for the Driver franchise announced for 2021. While Ubisoft said it is working on new projects, it announced that its film/video subsidiary, Hotrod Tanner LLC, was dissolved in January. “We are no longer continuing our Driver series partnership with Binge,” said a spokesperson for the company.
There hadn’t been a new game in the Driver franchise’s main game line since Driver: San Francisco, released in 2011. However, Ubisoft said that despite this gap, it is developing new projects for the Driver series and is looking forward to sharing more information about these projects.
Ubisoft is not only working on new projects for the Driver series, but also for other popular game franchises. Earlier this month, Ubisoft announced the start of production on a Watch Dogs movie starring Sophie Wilde and Tom Blyth, to be directed by Mathieu Turi. These developments show that Ubisoft continues to bring its game franchises to different media platforms.
While plans for a live-action series for the Driver franchise have been delayed, it’s encouraging for fans to know that Ubisoft has big plans for this classic series. The company is reportedly working on projects that will breathe new life into the Driver series.
