Ubisoft has added “Hybrid Mode” to the popular racing game The Crew 2 with a new update. This new mode allows players to enjoy the game without an internet connection. This feature has been particularly welcomed by players following the company’s previous steps.
The Crew 2 can now be played offline with “Hybrid Mode”
The newly added offline mode uses a completely separate save file from the online mode. This means that any vehicles or progress you acquire while playing offline will not be usable when you join an online session. Players can transfer their online progress to offline mode at any time, but it’s important to note that this process will erase and overwrite all progress in the offline save.

Offline mode excludes features that require an internet connection, such as multiplayer content, player-created content, LIVE Summits, and Crew Credit purchases. While this provides a basic experience, it’s considered a significant step forward for the game’s future. Ubisoft’s decision to completely disable The Crew, the first game in the series, after shutting down its servers, sparked significant debate about digital game ownership and game protection.
The “Stop Killing Games” movement, which emerged following these discussions, is demanding legal regulations at the European Union level to ensure continued access to games whose developers have withdrawn support. Ubisoft’s commitment to maintaining access to The Crew 2 even if its servers are down is being considered a positive development in the gaming world. The company stated in a statement, “Whether you want to preserve your progress for the future or enjoy the freedom of playing offline, Hybrid Mode will ensure The Crew 2 remains accessible for years to come.”
