Ubisoft, the world-famous video game company, has been facing serious difficulties recently. Falling share values and lower-than-expected sales figures of its big-budget games are putting the company in a difficult situation. However, this situation doesn’t seem to upset some gamers and even some developers in the industry; there is even a serious audience that wants the company to go under.
Ubisoft says it regrets the bad wishes
Ubisoft’s Monetization Director Stevy Chassard expressed his reaction to this situation with a post on LinkedIn, which he later deleted. Chassard’s statement sheds light on the turbulent period in the gaming industry…
“The gaming industry is going through a tough time right now, we all know that. But it’s sad that ‘gamers’ are wishing companies and people bad luck on social media.” Claiming that those who react to the company on social media are always in the minority, Chassard expressed his shame to be a part of this community.
What is surprising is that some people within the industry have made similar comments. “Not only are you clearly dehumanizing yourself, but you’re affecting thousands of employees who are already affected by all the hate and are doing their best to deliver incredible experiences,” Chassard said.
Ubisoft’s difficulties and the reactions of other players in the industry illustrate the complex nature of the video game industry and the competitive landscape. It remains to be seen how Ubisoft will deal with these challenges and maintain its position in the industry.
