Estonian startup Ampler Bikes has introduced the world’s first electric bikes that can be charged via a USB-C port. The two new models, called the Ampler Nova and Nova Pro, are compatible with the now standard USB-C port.
USB-C charging electric bike designed
Both bike models are equipped with a 140-watt power adapter and can be charged via a USB-C port integrated into the seat post. This system, which supports Power Delivery, can fully charge the 336 Wh battery in approximately 3 hours.
The batteries are non-removable and offer a range of approximately 100 kilometers in the lowest assist mode under suitable road conditions. On the other hand, the bikes have 400-watt instantaneous and 250-watt continuous output motors that provide support for speeds of up to 25 kilometers per hour and transmit power to the rear wheel.
These motors produce 45 Nm of torque and provide a natural riding feeling thanks to the torque sensor. The Nova model is equipped with a 9-speed MicroShift transmission, 27.5-inch rims with Continental rubber, Alhonga hydraulic disc brake system, integrated lighting system, rear rack and trailer connection point. The European price of the product was determined as 2990 euros.
The Nova Pro model comes with more equipment options. Users can choose between a 10-speed Shimano Deore transmission or a belt-driven single-speed Gates system. This model includes 28-inch rims, Shimano Deore brakes, a vibration-reducing shock-absorbing handlebar and an integrated rear carrier rack. The sales price of the Nova Pro was announced as 3490 dollars.
The new generation of electric bikes that can be charged with USB-C will make a difference in terms of sustainability. So what do you think about this? You can share your opinions with us in the comments section below.
