YouTube is facing a major technical glitch that’s driving users crazy. Millions of users have reported that they are unable to watch videos when trying to access content on the platform. Users are receiving error messages like “Video unavailable” or “This content is currently unavailable, please try again later.”
Global video playback stops on YouTube
The issue is not limited to specific regions; it has been reported globally on both mobile devices and desktop computers. Users have stated that they can’t play normal videos or Shorts either.

Users emphasized that they are not using VPNs or ad-blocker extensions, sharing that the issue is widespread. Following these reports, YouTube’s official X account released a statement.
The platform acknowledged the access issue and announced that it is working on a solution. The statement read, “We are receiving reports about YouTube video loading issues. We are aware and are working on a fix.” Users were also advised to follow the YouTube Community Forum for updates.
While the source of the issue has not yet been determined, data from Down Detector shows that YouTube is currently experiencing a large-scale outage, which explains the issues users are facing.
In other news, YouTube is preparing to relaunch its more affordable subscription service, Premium Lite. This plan, which was tested for two years and then removed, will once again be available in certain countries.
