WhatsApp has integrated a number of new features to improve the user experience. The stable release for iOS and Android includes one-time voice messages, message pinning in groups and more.
One-time voicemail and cross messaging support for WhatsApp
WhatsApp has launched a new privacy-focused feature that allows users to send voice messages that can only be listened to once. The feature, called once-viewable voice messages, will work in a similar way to photos and videos.
Voice messages sent with the View Once option will be marked in chats with a “listen only once” icon. This means that the user on the other end will not be able to replay or forward the audio content. Messages will only be opened once before being deleted from the chat.
In addition to this feature, it will be possible to pin messages from all members in groups. This will allow important messages from any one person to be stored for all group members to see. WhatsApp has also enabled to check the connection quality in video calls. You will be able to see the image quality by pressing and holding the screen during the call.
In addition to these innovations in the stable version, an important update was shared for the beta channel. It will now be possible to see third party messages in the WhatsApp beta application for iOS. Following a decision taken by the European Union, you will be able to track messages from other applications in WhatsApp.
This support, which is mandatory under the Digital Markets Act (DMA), will make it possible to chat with different messaging apps. However, let us remind you that cross messaging is currently being tested among beta users.
