A major PlayStation 5 jailbreak has been discovered, and the key is surprisingly an old PS4 game: Star Wars Racer Revenge. A rare exploit found in the physical version of this classic title has opened a new door for bypassing the console’s security.
How Does This Game Enable the PlayStation 5 Jailbreak?
According to Gezine, a well-known figure in the jailbreak community, the PS4 disc version of Star Wars Racer Revenge contains a critical vulnerability. This flaw allows for direct code injection into the PlayStation system. When combined with the recently leaked PS5 ‘ROM’ keys, this exploit makes a full jailbreak of the console possible.
Following the news, the second-hand market for the game saw a massive surge in activity. On platforms like eBay, the price for PS4 copies of Star Wars Racer Revenge skyrocketed to hundreds of dollars overnight. However, it’s been clarified that this vulnerability does not exist in the original PlayStation 2 version, meaning only the PS4 disc can be used for this purpose.

An Unpatchable Security Flaw for Sony
What makes this situation particularly alarming is that the leaked ROM keys are embedded directly into the console’s APU—its hardware. This means Sony cannot simply patch the vulnerability with a software update. This hardware-based security flaw can only be fixed by physically altering future revisions of the console. As of now, Sony has not released an official statement on the matter.
