The Volkswagen Group recorded a significant increase in electric vehicle sales in the first half of 2025. The Group delivered 465,500 fully electric vehicles worldwide between January and June.
Volkswagen is performing well in electric vehicle sales
This figure represents an increase of approximately 47% compared to the same period last year. Electric models accounted for 11% of the Volkswagen Group’s total global sales. This share was 7% in the first half of 2024.

The European market saw the highest growth in the first six months of the year. Electric vehicle deliveries in Europe jumped sharply, increasing by 89%. The Group maintains its leadership position in the continent’s fully electric vehicle market with a 28% share. While electric sales in the US increased by 24%, the Chinese market saw a 34% decline. Strong competition from domestic manufacturers was a key factor in the decline in China.
Among Volkswagen Group’s best-selling all-electric models, the Volkswagen ID.4/ID.5 series led the way with 84,900 units. The Volkswagen ID.3 followed with 60,700 units, the Audi Q4 e-tron with 44,600 units, and the Volkswagen ID.7 and Škoda Enyaq with 38,700 units each.
The Audi Q6 e-tron topped the list with 36,500 units, the Škoda Elroq with 34,300 units, and the Volkswagen ID. Buzz with 27,600 units. In the premium segment, the Porsche Macan reached 25,900 units. The CUPRA Born was notable with 22,100 deliveries.
In addition to fully electric models, the Group also saw increased sales of plug-in hybrid vehicles. In the first six months of 2025, 192,300 plug-in hybrid vehicles were sold worldwide. This figure was 136,800 units in the same period in 2024, representing a 41% increase.
