Volkswagen has announced the Edition 50 version of the Golf GTI model, specially prepared for its 50th anniversary. The model was launched as the most powerful and fastest GTI the brand has ever produced. The introduction was made before the 24-hour race organization at the Nürburgring. It was announced that the production process will begin in Wolfsburg at the end of 2025, and the first deliveries will be made at the beginning of 2026.
The new generation Golf GTI model has been introduced
The Golf GTI Edition 50 was presented as an improved derivative of the Golf GTI Clubsport, which was introduced last year. The vehicle uses a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo engine. This engine produces 325 horsepower and 420 Nm of torque. The same engine offered 300 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque in the Clubsport version. The new model accelerates from 0 to 100 kilometers in 5.5 seconds. This time is 0.1 seconds shorter than the Clubsport. The maximum speed is electronically limited to 270 km/h.

Along with the power increase in the vehicle, the chassis has also been restructured. The Edition 50 has a structure that is 15 millimeters lower than the standard Golf GTI. This lowering is increased by 5 millimeters with the optional GTI-Performance package.
The package also includes more robust suspension springs, 19-inch Warmenau forged rims, Bridgestone Potenza Race racing tires and an Akrapovic titanium exhaust system. The total weight of the vehicle is reduced by approximately 30 kilograms with lightweight components such as the exhaust system and rims.
In addition to technical changes, the Edition 50 also stands out with its visual details. The 50th-anniversary-specific details are located on the spoiler, mirror caps, door sills, steering wheel and seat upholstery. The traditional GTI plaid pattern is preserved on the seats. Five different color options have been prepared for the model. Of these, Dark Moss Green and Tornado Red are offered exclusively for this version.
Price information has not yet been shared. However, the Clubsport model with similar equipment has a sales price of 54,330 euros in Germany. So what do you think about this model? You can share your views with us in the comments section below.
