Volkswagen has shared the first official images of the new generation Sagitar model, which it has specially prepared for the Chinese market. Launched as the fourth generation, the vehicle will be sold under the name “Sagitar L”. The letter “L” is generally used in China to indicate the new generation of the model. The new model is in the family sedan segment with its affordable and spacious structure.
Volkswagen will come out with its affordable sedan
The Sagitar L shares the same foundation as the Jetta model offered by the brand in global markets. However, it has a larger structure than the Jetta in terms of its dimensions. The length of the car is 4,812 mm, its width is 1,813 mm, its height is 1,479 mm and its wheelbase is 2,731 mm. These ratios indicate a larger interior and a more settled body structure compared to its predecessor.

The new Sagitar also features striking changes in terms of design. A more stylish and aerodynamic appearance stands out in the exterior lines of the vehicle. The hidden door handles and LED light strips connecting the front and rear lights contribute to the modern design language. These details add both a premium air to the car and increase the technological perception.

There are also important updates in the interior. The digital instrument panel has been made larger compared to the previous generation. It is seen that the multimedia screen on the top of the center console has also been enlarged. The gear lever has been removed from its traditional position and integrated next to the steering wheel. The high, two-layer center console between the front seats has expanded the usable area.
Under the hood of the new Sagitar is a 1.5-liter turbo gasoline engine. This 160-horsepower engine works with a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission. The engine-transmission duo offers a balanced structure in terms of urban and long-distance performance.
The Volkswagen Sagitar L is produced in China by the FAW-VW joint venture. It is stated that the starting price of the car will be around $20,000. Even the most loaded version of the current model sells for 137,000 yuan, or around $19,000. The official launch of the next-generation model is planned for the coming months.
