Warner Bros. Entertainment has made more than 30 films available for free on its official YouTube channel. The move marks a significant departure from the company’s recent strategy of removing content from platforms and cutting costs.
Warner Bros. releases free films on its YouTube channel
Among the films added to YouTube are acclaimed productions such as 1996’s Michael Collins and the comedy Waiting for Guffman, released in the same year. There are also films that failed at the box office, such as 2000’s Dungeons and Dragons and Eddie Murphy’s 2002 comedy The Adventures of Pluto Nash.
Another notable aspect of this surprise decision is that many of the films released are not available on Warner Bros.’ own streaming platform Max. This situation aroused curiosity as it was both unexpected and unusual.
Warner Bros. actually wants to bring back the productions published in the old years. Previously, CEO David Zaslav said that they wanted to narrow the content catalogue by cancelling even almost completed projects such as Batgirl and Coyote vs. Acme.
The film range, which is available for free, offers the opportunity to discover little-known productions of Warner Bros. without a subscription fee or payment. Of course, it should be noted that it is only available with English subtitles for now.
