Following its announcement this morning, Google has begun rolling out the December 2025 update for Pixel Watch 4, 3, and 2 models. Based on Android 16 and officially named “Wear OS 6.1,” this update, build number BP4A.251205.005.W7, covers both Bluetooth/Wi-Fi and LTE versions.
Wear OS 6.1 Update Released
This is the first major post-release update for the Pixel Watch 4 since the last major update in October that brought Wear OS 6. Users can start the download by repeatedly tapping “Your watch is up to date” in the Settings > System > System updates menu. Those who want to speed up the process can disable Bluetooth in the connection preferences and force Wi-Fi.

Wear OS 6.1 introduces two new gesture features. The “Double Pinch” and “Wrist Turn” gestures are now enabled by default with the update.
Users can control these features from Settings > Gestures > Gestures. The company states that the Double Pinch gesture will soon be available for answering and ending phone calls. For now, these gestures are used for various tasks such as navigating notifications, instantly sending the first Smart Reply, snoozing an alarm, playing/pausing music, or taking photos.
Another significant improvement in the operating system is the full activation of Media Controls on Always-On Display (AOD). This feature fully enables general media controls, following previous AOD support for apps like “Now Playing,” Stopwatch, and Timer.
Furthermore, the “Sleep Mode” icon in the Quick Settings menu has been changed from a moon image to a real bed icon. The icons for the Flashlight and Settings apps have also been updated to match the Google Pixel’s blue-purple gradient design.
Simultaneously, version 4.2 of the Pixel Watch companion app was also released. This version comes with a new “Watch Screenshots” folder and eliminates the need for users to use temporary notifications. Google is offering a $50 discount on the Pixel Watch 4 model throughout this month.
