Western Digital has officially announced the world’s first 4TB capacity SD card, making headlines in the tech world. The product’s capacity marks a significant milestone, and it’s said to provide significant benefits, especially for content creators.
Western Digital will produce SD cards with 4 TB capacity
The SD card, named SanDisk Extreme Pro SDUC 4TB, will fully integrate with the highest Secure Digital Ultra Capacity (SDUC) standard. It will enable data transfer speeds ranging from 10 MB/s to 104 MB/s. Additionally, the product will be equipped with the new generation Video Speed Class V30 license, allowing for sequential write speeds of up to 30 MB/s and supporting 8K video recording.
Details about the NAND chips in the SD card are not yet available. However, considering the premium nature of the product, it’s expected to utilize the latest BiCS 9 NAND technology. Moreover, with support for double data rate, the card is anticipated to achieve nearly double the speed of standard models. If these expectations are really met, it could reshape the memory sector significantly. We hope that all these developments will ultimately benefit users.
