The ongoing silent war between Android and iPhone users is also reflected in statistics. According to a research conducted by Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP), the percentage of users switching from Android to iPhone has been revealed. So, what percentage of Android users switched to iPhone in 2023?
Why do people choose iPhone over Android?
CIRP annually discloses the percentage of users in the United States who switch from Android to Apple. According to the latest data, Android users opted for iPhones less last year. The reason for this decrease is unknown, and the rates from 2020 and 2021 have yet to be matched.
In 2022, the percentage of those switching from Android to iPhone was as high as 15%. However, in 2023, it dropped to 13%. In both 2020 and 2021, 11% of Android users started using iPhones.
The research also outlined the top four reasons why users choose iPhone over Android:
The aging or chronic issues of the Android device
Many users switch to iPhone due to chronic issues with their old Android phones. Especially flagship Android models are not updated for more than three years, pushing users towards iPhones.
New iOS updates, causing user frustration!
iPhone users also consider the new features of the device. Although some new Android models may surpass iPhones in certain aspects, iPhones gain new features with every update. Additionally, Apple provides five years of update support for each iPhone model, which is a significant factor in users’ decisions to switch.
Cost
While this may not be very applicable in our country, iPhones generally cost less than flagship Android models. Users also consider factors like resale value and long-term usage.
Community integration
Some users prefer iPhone over Android for its ease of integration with their families and social circles. iOS-exclusive apps like FaceTime and iMessage play a significant role in this preference.
Despite the seemingly low percentage of users switching from Android to iPhone, it’s worth noting that iPhones are released in only four models every year, while the total number of Android users consistently exceeds that of iPhone users. As of 2023, Android users accounted for 61%, while iPhone users accounted for 39%.
