Apple, which has been struggling with heating problems in the iPhone 15 series for a while, has now made an interesting development. It has allegedly temporarily stopped developing new versions of its operating systems. iOS 18, WatchOS 11 and macOS 15 software reportedly had unexpected bugs.
Apple halted iOS 18 and others due to bugs
According to a new report, Apple has stopped developing software versions to focus on fixing bugs and improving quality. The tech giant has taken an unusual step in this regard, stopping work on new features.
Bloomberg editor Mark Gurman reported that Apple completed the first releases of iOS 18, macOS 15 and watchOS 11 last month. However, software teams found an unexpected number of bugs in their review.
These software updates, which are expected to start beta testing next year, have caused confusion within the company. The development of new features was suspended after the development process did not go as the executives wanted.
The tech giant’s executives in charge of software engineering have instructed all teams to take a break from adding new features. Instead, the company will prioritize fixing bugs found in early versions.
In fact, it is common to find bugs in the software development process and fix them with updates. However, bugs in new versions of operating systems seem to have bothered Apple executives. This could delay iOS 18 and other software.
