WhatsApp, the most popular messaging application of our time, has surpassed the milestone of 2 billion users this year. However, there are some common problems that people frequently encounter. One of these problems is the issue of WhatsApp contacts not appearing. So, how can this problem be resolved?
How to fix the issue of WhatsApp contacts not appearing?
If you are experiencing the problem of contacts not appearing on WhatsApp, first make sure that all contacts are being displayed. Follow these steps:
- Open WhatsApp.
- Tap on the three dots located in the upper right corner.
- Select the “Contacts” option.
- Enable the “Show all contacts” option.
If you have enabled this option but the problem is not resolved, it is possible that you have saved your contacts to the memory card or your cloud backup account. In this case, you can solve the problem by inserting the relevant memory card into the device and restoring the contacts from the cloud.
If the problem persists despite these steps, we have shared the following steps provided by WhatsApp.
How to find contacts?
You can quickly and easily determine which of your contacts are using WhatsApp by accessing your phone’s address book. Follow the steps below to do this:
- Open WhatsApp and go to the Chats tab.
- Tap on the New Chat icon.
If you cannot see your contacts, check the following:
- Make sure that your contacts are using WhatsApp.
- Make sure that you have saved your contacts’ phone numbers in your phone’s address book. When saving the contacts who use international phone numbers, make sure to use the international format.
- From the Settings app on your phone, ensure that WhatsApp is allowed to access your phone’s address book.
How to save international phone numbers?
- Open your phone’s address book.
- When entering the person’s phone number, first put a plus (+) sign.
- Write the country code, followed by the complete phone number.
- Note: The country code is a numerical prefix that needs to be entered before the person’s phone number from another country in order to make a phone call. You can search the internet to find the country code you need.
For example, if a person living in the United States with the country code “1” has the area code “408” and the phone number “XXX-XXXX”, you should enter the number as +1 408 XXX-XXXX. Any missing or incorrect entries will cause the person not to appear in the application.
Note:
- Make sure you don’t add any zero digit or special dialing code at the beginning of the number.
- If you want to add a local (country-specific) phone number to your address book, enter the number as if you were calling the person from your phone.
- In Argentina with the country code 54, all phone numbers must have a “9” digit between the country code and the area code, regardless of whether they belong to Nextel. Lastly, the “15” prefix should be removed so that the total number of digits in the written phone number is 13: +54 9 XXX XXX XXXX.
- In Mexico with the country code 52, all phone numbers, even if they belong to Nextel, should have the digit “1” added after “+52”.
